GTA 6 Online at launch?

GTA 6 launches as a single-player game. Here's what Rockstar has and hasn't said about GTA 6 Online, and when analysts expect it.

Published

No — there’s no confirmed GTA 6 Online mode on launch day. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 as a single-player game built around Lucia and Jason’s story.

What’s confirmed

  • GTA 6 launches with story mode.
  • GTA Online (for GTA 5) carries on as Rockstar’s live online game.
  • Qualifying digital pre-orders of GTA 6 include a free month of GTA+, which you can use in GTA Online today.

What’s not confirmed

  • A release date for GTA 6’s own online mode.
  • Whether your GTA Online character, money or cars carry over. Don’t assume they will.
  • Player counts or modes. Some store listings show online fields, but Rockstar hasn’t detailed anything.

Why Rockstar might wait

Rockstar has done this before. GTA 5 launched in September 2013 and GTA Online followed two weeks later. Red Dead Online arrived as a beta a month after Red Dead Redemption 2. Analysts covering Take-Two have suggested GTA 6 Online could land in 2027. Treat that as a forecast, not a date.
